London's Autumn Design Season
Between mid-September and mid-October, London hosts a concentration of design events unmatched by any other city. London Design Festival (12-20 Sep), Top Drawer Autumn (13-15 Sep), 100% Design (19-22 Sep), the Independent Hotel Show (5-6 Oct), and Decorex International (11-14 Oct) create an almost continuous six-week programme. Whether you're a retailer, interior designer, architect, or hospitality professional, there's something directly relevant to your practice. The challenge isn't finding events. It's managing your time.
Week 1: London Design Festival + Top Drawer (12-20 September)
LDF is the umbrella. Nine days of free installations, exhibitions, and events across the city, with the V&A as the hub. Top Drawer Autumn (13-15 Sep at Olympia) runs within the first weekend for trade buyers. Strategy: use the LDF opening weekend (12-13 Sep) for installations and the V&A commissions, hit Top Drawer on Monday 14 or Tuesday 15 Sep, then use the remaining LDF days for focused neighbourhood routes and talks. Register for both. LDF via londondesignfestival.com, Top Drawer at topdrawer.co.uk (trade credentials required).
Week 2: 100% Design (19-22 September)
100% Design at Olympia is the closest London gets to a continental trade fair format. Four days of exhibitors across Interiors, Workplace, Kitchens & Bathrooms, Design & Build, and Emerging Brands. Free for pre-registered trade visitors (£15 on the door otherwise). The 2026 theme is "Experience." It runs during LDF's final weekend, so you can combine a 100% Design visit with any remaining festival events.
Week 4-5: Independent Hotel Show + Decorex (October)
After a breather, October opens with the Independent Hotel Show (5-6 Oct at Olympia). Free for vetted hospitality professionals, with 220+ handpicked suppliers. Then Decorex International (11-14 Oct at Olympia) closes the season with luxury interior design's most curated showcase. Decorex is paid entry with tiered pricing, but for high-end residential and hospitality designers, it's where you source the fabrics, furniture, and artisan crafts that differentiate your projects.
The Smart Diary
The key insight: all four Olympia events (Top Drawer, 100% Design, Independent Hotel Show, Decorex) are at the same venue, so you already know the transport (Kensington Olympia Overground, or West Kensington/Barons Court tube). LDF is citywide but the V&A hub is at South Kensington. One tube stop from the Olympia cluster. Block out the dates now: 12-22 September for LDF/Top Drawer/100% Design, then 5-6 and 11-14 October for the hospitality and luxury shows. Six weeks, five events, one city.
